We’ve published our 2024 Our Planet report, and our third under their responsible business brand, For Good, reporting another strong year of reduction, against our Science Based targets and on carbon. You can read the full report here.
This is our fifth year reporting our full carbon footprint and they continue to track ahead of trajectory on their 2030 science-based reduction targets they established in 2021. Since their 2019 baseline they have reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 31%, and Scope 3 by 34%.
From the outset our sustainability journey has been built on understanding our impact, through science and data, and striving for absolute reductions – prioritising decarbonisation over offsetting. Developing robust data means we can actively manage and mitigate our impact, and over the years we’ve continued to focus on its rigour and quality, constantly refining and improving it.
Within the report you can read more about the progress that has been made, including:
- Reducing carbon emissions ahead of the target trajectory for our 2030 Science-Based targets
- 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions associated with packaging 2020-2023
- First poultry business involved in the BRC-Mondra coalition’s product level carbon footprinting pilot
- Significant reductions in Energy and waste consumption
- Ahead of Champions 12.3 food waste commitment
Clearly managing and reducing our footprint is an important aim for us, but not something we can achieve in isolation. Throughout, we’ve endeavoured to align with our customers goals, to drive action collectively, enabling us to manage our business and supply chain in a more sustainable way.
Our progress is founded on the consistent quality of our data, which is essential to understanding and quantifying our impact, and in creating effective plans to reduce it. We’ve kept focus on improving the accuracy of our carbon emissions data, with 81% now activity based, and key stakeholders recognising it as the best in class. We are at the frontline of product level carbon footprinting and have made significant GHG reductions through packaging innovation since 2020.
Our Planet is one of the five pillars of our For Good programme, the framework through which we deliver our commitments to being a responsible business. The full 2024 Our Planet report can be found on our website, with more information about their progress across the rest of their wider sustainability agenda available in their Responsible Business Report due later in November.
