Proud signatories of the Food Business Charter

We are founding signatories of the new Meat Bussiness Women Food Business Charter.

We’re proud to be signatories of the new Meat Business Women Charter, aiming to reach 40% female representation across the food industry by 2035.

The Charter, co-created by Meat Business Women and a host of industry leaders, ourselves included, reflects a strategic commitment and collective determination to remove barriers and create meaningful opportunities for women at all levels.

Pledging our support to the Charter by becoming a founding signatory, is part of our commitment to attracting and retaining talent in the food industry, whilst developing a balanced and inclusive workforce.

Avara Foods CEO, Andy Dawkins, commented “We’ve been proactive supporters of Meat Business Women for several years and are proud signatories of the Food Business Charter. I believe this is an important step in helping drive inclusive sustainable change, and I hope other businesses in our sector support this initiative”.

The charter articulates a drive and vision for toward a more gender balanced workforce, but also provides a practical roadmap for lasting change. It unites businesses across the supply chain to take decisive action, share best practices, and accelerate change that benefits the entire sector.

In recent years we’ve made strong progress across our inclusivity agenda, particularly around gender-related issues. We’ve established a strategic partnership with Meat Business Women, built a strong internal community and extended our membership so that anyone at Avara can access the networking and membership benefits. At all our locations we’ve made period products available for our colleagues, and been independently accredited as a ‘Menopause Friendly’ workplace, following our Menopause Movement campaign.
