Once again Avara Foods supported the annual Onion Fair at Newent, with colleagues from our Newent chicken processing facility in attendance running an Avara stand, telling people about what we do locally and the great opportunities the company can offer.

This was the 25th Newent Onion Fayre, and it welcomed thousands of attendees to enjoy live music, entertainment, food and drink, exhibitions, children's events and over 150 stands and stalls. Marcus Billig, Site Manager of our Newent facility, entered the legendary onion eating competition, where contestants are challenged to eat a raw onion as quickly as possible. Representing the company with flair, he undertook this challenge dressed as a chicken – sadly he didn’t win, but certainly made a valiant effort!

The company is always pleased to help support local events such as the Newent Onion Fayre, and as a major employer in the area, recognises the value of inviting local residents to learn about what we do and what we offer as an employer. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
