Avara Foods’ Brackley team in Northamptonshire supported local charity Katharine House Hospice with a week of fundraising activities on site. These activities ran both day and night so all shift workers could join in, and included all departments and levels.
The site’s Charity Challenge Week activities included bake sales, darts and golf competitions, a tombola, a raffle and themed fancy dress. Curries and Caribbean street food were also for sale, with all proceeds going to Katharine House Hospice.
The total amount raised during the week was £5,536 and the cheque was presented to Katharine House Hospice by Avara Foods colleagues. Those representing the company for the presentation were invited to tour Katharine House Hospice’s facilities and meet some of the team and service users.
“We’re always grateful to local companies that want to support us in delivering the valuable services we provide,” stated Laura Horton, Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager at Katharine House Hospice. “Donations are hugely important to us – the money raised by Avara Foods could, for example, provide all meals and refreshments to our patients, and using the Day Hospice services, for 80 days. Support from local business is a great help to us, and we look forward to building our relationship with Avara Foods in the future.”
“I’m delighted our Brackley site was able to support such a worthy cause,” commented Rob Bywater, Site Manager at Avara Foods, Brackley. “We believe strongly in supporting charities close to home, and several of our colleagues here have had family members access Katharine House’s services. The hospice does truly amazing work and we’re thrilled we were able to raise so much.”
