Lee Baxter, Farm Manager at Redhill Farm near Lyonshall in north Herefordshire, was named Grower of the Year at the recent National Egg & Poultry Awards, and Poultry Farmer Award at the Three Counties Farming Awards.
The National Egg & Poultry Awards celebrate the breadth and depth of talent, drive and ambition in the egg and poultry sector every year in the UK. The awards credited Lee as ‘an exceptional manager’, and highlighted that he’s a member of the Aviagen 420 Club.
The Three Counties Farming Awards seek to highlight the very best of farming practice across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. The objective of these awards is to raise the profile of the farming communities in those counties and honour local agriculture workers. The Hereford Times reported, “Lee excels at paying close attention to what is happening on farm at all stages throughout the growing period, reacting swiftly and efficiently to any problems that may arise.”
Lee mentioned “This has been a difficult year for us all and a splash of good fortune just takes the edge off; I’m very proud of my achievements.”
John Reed, Agriculture Director at Avara Foods, commented, “It’s great when the farmers we work with are recognised for their outstanding work, and doubly so in this case! We know how hard they work, maintaining our high standards and rearing quality poultry for consumers to enjoy. This year has been particularly challenging, so it’s cheering to see one of our own celebrated for their amazing efforts. I’m sure everyone at Avara will join me in congratulating Lee on these great achievements.”
